Volunteer Opportunities
Discover various volunteering opportunities to engage actively in your child’s school by completing the “Get Involved Survey” to indicate your areas of interest, helping us match your skills with our school community’s needs.

Tracking Volunteer Hours
For smooth coordination and accountability, follow these guidelines:

• Sign in and out at the main office.
• Wear a volunteer badge on school premises.
• Maintain confidentiality about student matters.
• If you commit to a schedule, attend consistently or inform the teacher or main office if unable.
• Leave discipline matters to the staff.
• Dress comfortably and be a positive role model.

Required Paperwork
To become a school volunteer at VACSE, complete the following paperwork:

• Volunteer Rules Agreement Form
• Valid photo ID with your birthdate (e.g., driver’s license, passport, state identification card)

Mandatory Clearance Requirements
Volunteers must meet clearance requirements as per Pennsylvania State Child Protective Service law. Specifics:

For Volunteers Living in PA for Fewer Than 10 Years:

• FBI Fingerprint Clearance
• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance (no fee for volunteers)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (no fee for volunteers)
  
  

For Volunteers Living in PA Continuously for 10 Years:

• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance (no fee for volunteers)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (no fee for volunteers)
  
  

Clearance Renewal Requirements
All clearances, including the FBI check, must be renewed every three years (36 months). Pennsylvania residents must renew their FBI Fingerprint clearance for at least ten years until meeting the 10-year residency requirement. Afterward, submit a Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers every three years.

Parent Drivers
Parents driving students on field trips or attending school-sponsored events must complete the PA Request for Driver Information form.

Place clearance documentation in a sealed envelope with your name and deliver it to our School Secretary in the VACS Office.
