Unlocking Potential with Vision Academy’s W.I.N. Program

At Vision Academy, every student has the potential to excel and reach mastery in their education. That’s why we are introducing you to our W.I.N. program, which is designed to ensure mastery and provide diverse, personalized opportunities for all our students.

What is W.I.N.?

W.I.N. stands for “What I Need,” a mandatory component for all students. This program is rooted in research that shows achieving mastery sometimes requires additional time beyond the regular school day. W.I.N. is our commitment to delivering targeted academic support tailored to each student’s unique needs.

Data-Driven Approach:

To determine the specific needs of each student, we rely on a data-driven approach. We consider a range of data points, including state reading and math assessments from the previous year and commencement-of-year assessments. One essential assessment tool is M.A.P. (Measure of Academic Progress), aimWEBplus, and teacher-developed tools. M.A.P., administered throughout the year, helps us group students effectively and provides teachers with valuable resources to support their students’ progress.

Strategic Grouping:

Our grouping decisions are strategic and aim to reinforce or revisit learned content. We also incorporate data from formative assessments like checkpoint quizzes, mid-unit quizzes, exit tickets, and end-of-unit assessments to ensure our approach is comprehensive and effective.

Diverse Opportunities:

W.I.N. sessions run four days a week from the first week of school. Students engage in Literacy Activities, Math Activities, Project-Based Learning (P.B.L.), and grade-level-specific Clubs during these sessions. Teachers are encouraged to include supplementary activities aligned with the program’s objectives, fostering a sense of community and exploration.
